Wegolf Makes a Strong Entrance in Mexico
Mary Carmen Maldonado Aguilar joins the Commercial Representative team to drive the Wegolf market in Mexico.
It is well known that golf in Mexico has grown exponentially in recent years. The number of golfers, courses, and professionals on the world's best Tours has increased significantly, making the country one of the strongest golf markets in Latin America.
In our quest to continue growing in the regional market, Wegolf has placed special emphasis on establishing itself in Mexico. To facilitate this, Mary Carmen Maldonado Aguilar has joined the Wegolf staff as a Commercial Representative.
Mary Carmen is a passionate golfer living in Mérida who plays at the Yucatán Country Club, home to "El Jaguar," one of the best courses in Mexico.
We chatted with Mary Carmen about her joining the Wegolf team.
1) How do you feel about joining the Wegolf team as a Commercial Representative?
Golf came into my life at a magical and special moment. I embraced this encounter with passion; it challenged me but also gave me great experiences from the start. I found a new way to live in the present and enjoy nature—a way to challenge my own abilities and master my inner self.
This new life led me to reconnect with great friends who share the same passion for golf and for creating unforgettable experiences. I found it incredible that Wegolf describes what it does with the phrase: "The happiness of traveling the world playing golf." I feel very fortunate with this alliance.
2) What are your goals with Wegolf in the Mexico and Mérida markets?
I am sure we will build a great community of Mexican golfers traveling with Wegolf. I am fortunate to live in the beautiful city of Mérida and belong to Yucatán Country Club, where the "El Jaguar" course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, is located. Most of us who play here come from different parts of the Republic, so starting by sharing the Wegolf experience with our community will quickly put us on the travel plans of Mexicans who enjoy quality and exclusivity.
I feel very lucky with this alliance and proud to contribute to building these experiences.
3) Which destinations do you consider most attractive for Mexican golfers?
Mexico is privileged in its geography. Our location allows for many magnificent alternatives just a few hours away in the Caribbean or the United States. Mexicans also have a particular taste for food, traditions, and Latin American culture, so combining that richness with courses in the Dominican Republic, Brazil, or Argentina is a real pleasure.
But Mexico will always be our best destination, offering spectacular courses at home in Los Cabos, Nayarit, Yucatán, or Playa del Carmen that attract golfers from all over the world to enjoy our cenotes, archeological ruins, and beautiful beaches.
