Fourball Américas Casa de Campo Sets Date for Its Second Edition
Fourball Américas Casa de Campo already has a date for its second edition
With less than a month to go before the 1st edition of the Fourball Américas Casa de Campo begins, the championship is expected to be a total success with 112 registered golfers from eight countries in the region. The championship originated from an alliance between Wegolf—the #1 golf travel agency in Latin America—and Casa de Campo—the #1 golf resort in the Caribbean.
The Fourball Américas Casa de Campo will be played from May 9 to 14 on two of the resort’s three courses: Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore, two fabulous Pete Dye designs. Teeth of the Dog recently hosted the Latin America Amateur Championship for the third time—the championship organized by The Masters, The R&A, and the USGA.
The success of the 1st edition with a full capacity of 112 golfers has prompted the early launch of the 2nd edition. It will be played from May 8 to 13, 2023, and will have a capacity for 240 golfers playing simultaneously on Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore.
“We are very happy to host one of the most important amateur tournaments in Latin America at our home, to be played on Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore. More than 56 pairs will be testing themselves on the legendary Pete Dye designs. The event will be a true celebration,” says Manuel Relancio, Head Pro at Casa de Campo.
Nicolas Iorio, President of Wegolf, the travel agency organizing the championship, comments: "For a few years, we had been developing the idea of a continental Fourball tournament without any age or gender restrictions, where teams could be formed by friends, parents and children, couples, etc. While we thought the event was destined for great success, the truth is that the acceleration of sales from November 2021 surprised us. In just 3 months, all 112 spots were filled, making for a group of nearly 170 people including companions. Three months before the event, we had to open a waiting list." He adds: "Undoubtedly, the 1st edition will greatly drive the growth of the event for next year."
