Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, the Destination Chosen by the Latin American Golf World
The eyes of Latin American golf were focused for a week on the impressive setting of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, host for the third time of the most important amateur championship in the region. The Latin America Amateur Championship displayed all its magic on Teeth of the Dog, where Aaron Jarvis surprised everyone and secured, among other benefits, a place in the Masters and The Open in 2022.
As in previous editions at Casa de Campo, one of the main protagonists was precisely the venue where the event took place. Not only the golf course, but the #1 resort in the Caribbean as a whole. This was reflected by players, executives, and key figures in the sport at a global level.
“Any golfer who truly loves this sport, especially if they haven’t played Teeth of the Dog, Casa de Campo is the first place I would recommend because of everything the resort offers, with places as beautiful as Altos de Chavón, Minitas Beach, and La Marina. I am sure they will have moments they will remember for a lifetime”, said Argentine Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, who arrived at the LAAC with the highest amateur ranking in the field and finished second behind Jarvis.
Leader after the first 36 holes, Julián Perico agreed with Fernández de Oliveira: “Casa de Campo is an incredible place. Spots like Altos de Chavón, Minitas Beach, La Marina, the rooms, the food—it’s all spectacular. For me, it’s the best place in the world. If I had to choose a place to go on vacation or recommend to someone, I would tell them to come here”, said the Peruvian.
But it wasn’t only the players who were fascinated by the magnificence of Casa de Campo. Sydney Wolff, President of the Puerto Rico Golf Association, stated: “Besides the three spectacular golf courses, it has everything. Many places to eat, relax, and unwind. For me, it is the best place in the world. Most of the tournaments I organize outside the Association are held here because of the tremendous staff across the entire complex, who always provide the best possible service. For me, it is by far the number one resort”.
“It’s my first time at Casa de Campo and, if I return to the Dominican Republic, I will definitely come back here for everything it offers: the surroundings, the golf courses, the great restaurants, the beaches, pools, beautiful villas, tranquility, and all the activities available. It is truly a spectacular destination”, added Gabriel Morgan, Vice President of the Chilean Golf Federation.
“The offering at Casa de Campo is very diverse, a truly exceptional place worth visiting. Without a doubt, the star attraction is golf, with three spectacular courses designed by the great Pete Dye. Teeth of the Dog has holes that leave you speechless, with extraordinary layouts and par 3s where you can’t stop taking photos. The beach, the friendliness of the people, the sunsets, Altos de Chavón, the villas—everything is perfect at Casa de Campo”, said Paco Alemán, analyst for Golf Channel Latin America.
For Luis Felipe Álvarez, Senior Manager Latin America & Caribbean at Acushnet Company (Titleist and FootJoy), Casa de Campo “is one of the best destinations in the world, not only for golf, but also as a place for recreation, vacations, and living. For me, it represents quality—above all—in architecture, design, gastronomy, its people, service, and golf courses. It symbolizes doing things right, at a premium level, which is why Casa de Campo has been, is, and will continue to be a preferred destination for many years”.
Casa de Campo is synonymous with excellence, as reflected by the different figures of Latin American and Caribbean golf during the seventh edition of the LAAC. There is no doubt: the region’s #1 resort is the preferred destination for players, executives, journalists, and business leaders connected to the sport, and it is no surprise that the Masters, The R&A, and the USGA have chosen it once again to host the amateur “Major” of Latin America.
