Top 5: The Best Golf Courses in Colombia
Colombia is the second country in South America with the largest number of golf courses, many of which are of a high standard and have hosted major professional competitions.
1) Club Los Lagartos (David Gutiérrez):
The club features 36 holes, with the David Gutiérrez course being the most competitive and renowned. Redesigned in 2012 by Scott Miller of Nicklaus Design, it has hosted the Colombian Open and legends like Roberto De Vicenzo and Tony Jacklin.
2) Country Club de Bogotá (Fundadores)
Arguably the most traditional and prestigious club in Colombia. Host to the Korn Ferry Tour since 2010, the Fundadores course is a 7,200-yard challenge that requires players to master both draw and fade shots through its tree-lined fairways.
3) San Andrés Golf Club
Founded in 1945 and designed by Thompson & Jones. This English parkland-style course features narrow fairways and small greens. Its Scottish-style clubhouse was inspired by the Old Course at St. Andrews.
4) El Rincón de Cajicá
Considered by many as the greatest golf challenge in the country. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, it hosted the 1980 World Cup of Golf and remains one of the most demanding tests for professional golfers.
5) Club Campestre Medellín (Llanogrande)
Located near Medellín, Llanogrande is one of the best-maintained courses in Colombia. With water hazards affecting half the holes, the stretch from holes 10 to 12 is particularly challenging.
