Passenger entry quotas increased for Argentina
The daily quota for passengers arriving from abroad has been expanded to 1,700 people. Starting September 6th, it will rise to 2,300 with the authorization of airports in the interior of the country.
Following the approval of an expansion in the daily quota for passengers arriving from abroad —which rose from 1,000 to 1,700 over the weekend—, airlines have begun to confirm their flight schedules for August. The news, beyond the increase in the number of arrivals, is that restrictions for some countries that were still in effect have been removed, allowing for the re-approval of travel to Chile and Brazil.
Furthermore, according to authorities from Migrations and the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), special flights will be approved in the coming days —with capacity above the announced quota— from cities where there are larger numbers of stranded Argentines who were unable to return to the country in previous weeks.
Starting September 6th, the quota will expand to 2,300 daily passengers. However, this expansion will depend on the authorization of international flight arrivals at other airports in the interior of the country, in addition to Ezeiza.
In this new quota context, Aerolíneas Argentinas has increased its frequencies by 60% in August compared to the previous month. Additionally, it has resumed flights to Chile and Brazil departing from the metropolitan Aeroparque.
For its part, Latam reported that the company has a total of 12 approved flights connecting Buenos Aires to the cities of Santiago (Chile), Lima (Peru), and São Paulo (Brazil). In these cases, all arrivals are limited in capacity. They also noted that passengers affected by flight suspensions can modify their ticket dates at no cost or request a refund.
