Hilton Head

A must-visit for every golfer

Destination

Hilton Head is another of the islands close to the mainland of the state of South Carolina and facing the Atlantic Ocean. Commonly referred to as 'the Hamptons of the South,' this region is an exclusive enclave where some celebrities reside, boasting luxurious residences and high-end gated communities.

Clear sandy beaches, walking trails to explore the entire island on foot, and a considerable total of 26 golf courses spread across its expanse

  • Also a Pete Dye design that was rebuilt in 2007. It has a maximum length of 7,035 yards, but each hole has seven tee-offs for different levels of play. There is a good distribution of long and short holes, and many of them pose risk-reward situations.

Hilton Head National Golf Club

Hilton Head National Golf Club

Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned a reputation as one of the best public courses in the area. This course was a collaboration between Gary Player and Bobby Weed, with each designing 9 holes. The course features large greens with pronounced undulations. It's a challenging course, but not overly penalizing

Arthur Hills Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes

Arthur Hills Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes

Arthur Hills made the most of the spectacular coastal beauty of the area when designing this award-winning course at Palmetto Dunes. Hidden within the tranquil Leamington area, this course, made for the imaginative player, meanders through dunes, narrow fairways, numerous water hazards, and large palmetto trees. Above all, this course emphasizes precision and good decision-making over distance throughout the round, with very clever and challenging holes.

Other recommended golf courses

In addition to the courses at these two resorts, Hilton Head also offers others such as Oyster Reef, May River, among others

While there is an airport on Hilton Head Island itself, we recommend taking a flight to the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, and then ground transportation to the destination (40 minutes)
