Description
It's so close to St Andrews that the course is worth a visit at least. Have lunch in the quaint Club House. The course will never host a major championship like The Open, but it has an even better ground than any in St Andrews, and an elevated club house with simply fantastic views of the North Sea. It's a short, fun course that doesn't need another yard, and if the wind is blowing, going down 80 can be very difficult. And something to highlight: the club has a Roll of Honor in which all the visitors from the previous year stand out in a table, with their full name, country and club where they play.
Signature Hole
18th Hole / Par 3 / 205 yards:
The par 3s in Scotland usually have something special about them. And Crail's Balcomie Links is no exception: the 14th from next to the Club House and down hill, with the sea to the right, is one of the most picturesque in the area and the 205-yard 18th as the final hole offers a challenging finish. Its par 69 may not seem like much, but we have heard golfers of a very good level leave happy with 75 on a very windy day.
Wegolf Insider Tip
If a golf course has the seal or the intervention of Old Tom Morris, this is a guarantee of quality and golf in its purest state. We have already done it and we will always repeat it: St Andrews is a trip that should be done -if possible- playing all the courses in the area the same week. Crail is a fishing village where the food is superlative, not to be overlooked.
