Description
Castle is the seventh course of the St Andrew's Links Trust and offers a different golf experience to what the vast majority of courses in Scotland offer us. It is a links but with many level changes and greens with a movement like no other in the UK. From the tee it is very permissive and except for a few crossbunkers, the tees are relatively easy and that means that the medium and high handicap player can also have fun. The shots to the green are complicated but entertaining, one can be 50 yards away and it is difficult to leave it on the green.
Signature Hole
Hole 17 / Par 3/ 174 yards A par 3 in which the tee shot must fly at least 150 yards to a green with severe hills and in which being close is no guarantee of being able to make two putts. Add the 18th, a par 5 in which the drive is intimidating and if it's good, it offers a spectacular second shot to a green with the sea in the background that is the perfect end to a round of golf.
Wegolf Insider Tip
Castle is very new to what Scottish courses tend to be. It offers variations and forces the player to be creative with their shots. There are holes that seem defenseless like the short 8, but missing the green is bogey for sure. Wegolf played it for the first time in 2012 on a drizzly day and still the impression was excellent. It is a field worth knowing
