Description
Established in 1927 along with the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Waialae was the island's first Golf Resort. Designed by Seth Raynor and with subsequent modifications by Robert Trent Jones, Desmond Muirhead, and more recently Tom Doak, its original layout contained replicas of several famous holes. Its palm trees and views of the ocean have been the venue and setting for the Hawaiian Open since 1965, and since 1999 for the renowned Sony Open.
Signature Hole
The par 3 of the 8th hole is the most recognized on the course. The 186 yards that separate the tee box from the center of the green respect the design of a classic and challenging template hole: the Redan.
Wegolf Insider Tip
For design fans, in addition to hole 8, try to recognize the hole that has similarities to the Road Hole of the Old Course or the template of the Biarritz hole!
