The Players Championship
Description
From the initial idea by former PGA TOUR Commissioner Deane R. Beman, THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass was built in 1980 to be the permanent home of THE PLAYERS Championship. As the first true Stadium Course, it was designed to improve the overall on-site fan experience. Working with renowned golf course architect Pete Dye, Commissioner Deane Beman created a course design that favored no particular style of play, resulting in a truly balanced layout. Players find a selection of short, medium and long holes within the categories of par-3s, par-4s and par-5s; both right and left doglegs.
Signature Hole
The signature island green on the par-3, 17th hole is one of the most recognized in golf and the course is consistently named among the best in the world.
Wegolf Insider Tip
We've been going to TPC Sawgrass every year since 2009, whether it's for THE PLAYERS, a escorted tour, or with a group of clients. It is quite an experience to play on the Stadium Course. The fact of having tall trees so close to the fairway makes the sound of the golf shot very special; as nowhere can be heard.
