Description
It’s not only one of the 5 founders of the USGA, it also has the first Club House designed especially for a golf course by Stanford White, located in the highest ground where you can see almost all the course. A club with a lot of history and lot of US Open played in it.
Signature Hole
Hole 7 / Par 3 / 175yds.
Redan is a style of green design in which the green moves from the right short side to the long side on the left. The original of this style is 15th North Berwick (Scotland), having been copied by 4 National Links of America (neighboring Shinnecock) and then here. A hole that looks helpless but its green is very hard to read and to fail on the right is an almost certain double bogey.
Wegolf Insider Tip
It was a great experience and we were able to feel up close not only the difficulty but also the tradition of the club. We arrived early and were able to visit every part of the club, which exudes charm and history in every corner. The locker room with some pictures recalling the great history of the US Open gives goosebumps: how to forget Corey Pavin's 4 wood in 1995. Impossible!!
