Description
The Royal Liverpool Golf Club links at Hoylake can be beautiful, uplifting, challenging, and even daunting when the wind really blows and the summer rough is deep. The course was created to be a demanding test of golf and remains so, and lies at the very heart of the history and development of the game in Great Britain. This is one of the best and fairest golf links courses, admired by golfers from all over the world, and where you´ll get a free lesson on how a guest should be treated.
Signature Hole
The 5th hole, a 479 yards par 4, 'Telegraph', is a very difficult driving hole with a bunkers left and right. The right side is further protected by extensive gorse to which the westerly wind pushes your ball. Nevertheless, the best line from the tee requires a drive close to the right hand side of the fairway. Any tee shot which is too cautious will mean a second shot played over a bunker which jealously guards the front left of the green. Remember to believe the yardage here as this hole always plays one club longer than you first think.
Wegolf Insider Tip
Wegolf played for the first time in August 2014, only 10 days after Rory McIlroy won his first Clret Jug in an immaculate condition and still with all the stands in place, which when walking the 18th hole (the 16th of the original course of the club) made it extremely exciting. Even having played 14 of the 18 holes in the rain, we enjoyed a spectacular day. We can highlight many things, but in addition to the incredible and varied design, we are left with the treatment received at the Club, to imitate.
