Description
Punta Espada is the first of at least 3 courses for the Cap Cana complex project, and a master piece from the great Jack Nicklaus, destined to be one of the best golf courses in the world. Competitive, views of the ocean from all 18 holes, a variety in design like in his best products, this Nicklaus golf course design must be played not once, but several times, as once you finish playing for the first time, you have the urge to play this course again. With reachable par 4s, a wide variety in the par 3s and a great ending make of Punta Espada a great golf course, especially for match play.
Signature Hole
The course has so many good holes, hard to pick one. The par 5 12th hole, the par 4 3rd hole, the par 4 18th hole … all excellent holes. And a great touch from the Golden Bear is the green complex of the par 3 7th hole that seen from above is the perfect footprint of a bear. However, the par 3 13th hole of almost 250 yds from the back tees is destined to be this course´s signature hole, where you need to cover 230 yds over the Caribbean Sea to touch land.
Wegolf Insider Tip
You usually relate Punta Cana with the beach and vacations. But this is now a first class golf destination, and Punta Espada es the golf course you must play every time you go there. And by no means this is an "impossible" golf course, you can shoot a low score if you play well. The wind is a factor as the course is right by the sea, but still, it´s playable for both professionals and amateurs. Wegolf has played this course since its inauguration in 2006 and we believe that the best summary is "a masterpiece in an inmaculate landscape".
