Description
Home of the first Open in 1860 and where Old Tom Morris worked as a greenkeeper, Prestwick Golf Club was founded in 1851 with only 12 holes, and hosted a total of 24 Opens, only surpassed by the Old Course with 25. The course is a true monument to Scottish golf tradition, with holes that wind around hills, fairways with imperceptible bunkers, several blind shots, and small, firm greens.
Signature Hole
The par 4 of the 17th hole rises from the tee box towards the green, with a fairway that narrows, and the famous bunker called “Sahara” just in front of a green that requires a blind shot.
Wegolf Insider Tip
Just around the clubhouse's corner you can find the Red Lion Pub, where in 1851 57 men met to shape the club. A piece of history worth visiting.
