Description

The owner of the Golf Resort brought Pete Dye after his success at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course with the goal of building the toughest course in the Western US and he succeeded. The story also tells that on the 16th they were in the bunker on the green, with a wall of more than 3 meters, and the owner told him that it was too difficult. Pete put 3 balls and left the first "kick in" and from then on the owner had no further opinion during the construction of the course. La Quinta Resort has 5 courses: Norman, Mountains, Dunes, Nicklaus and Stadium and a very high-level hotel, making it one of the most recommended destinations in the US to play golf.

Signature Hole

Hole 17 / Par 3 / 169 yards This hole was opened during a "Skins Game" where the Great Lee Trevino made a brutal hole in 1. The hole resembles the 17th at TPC Sawgrass, but is a bit longer and has a bit more of a wild look. It's really intimidating and stopping it on the green is no easy job. The name of the hole evokes the well-known prison on the coast of San Francisco.

Wegolf Insider Tip

It is a really complicated course from the beginning and there are many holes where a bad shot can lead to very high numbers. The destination, Palm Springs, has more than 20 first class golf courses and it is worth visiting, being the best date for the end of February.

The good, The Bad

The great challenge, the variety of the holes and the fearsome of the final 3 holes, especially 17 (Alcatraz)
The difficulty of the course can make it boring for high handicap players. Nail the selection of tees to avoid this.
