Description

Pasatiempo was born from a trip MacKenzie made to the West of USA in 1929, inaugurated with an exhibition match between Bobby Jones, Glenna Collet, Marion Hollins and Alister MacKenzie. It has one of the best par 4s in the world (the 16th hole), very difficult greens, a flawless maintenance and very importantly, a wide variety of holes, changes in elevation, and requires great strategy, as this is a course that as soon as you miss on the wrong side, it´s very difficult to make par. In addition, Juli Inkster, member of the Golf Hall of Fame and winner of seven Majors, is a member of this club and has a huge display cabinet in her honor.

Signature Hole

The 16th hole, a 387 yards par 4. According to Alister MacKenzie himself: "The best two-shot hole I have ever designed". Words can´t even describe it. A magnificent hole, clearly showing you don´t need 480 yards to make agood and difficult par 4. A first semi-blind shot, as you can´t see where the ball lands, with a fairway tilted from right to left, with a creek just in front ant to the left of the green, and the best green ever designed. Fantastic! Different tiers and a lot of movement.

Wegolf Insider Tip

When you think of playing on the west coast of the US you usually think of playing Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Spyglass, Spanish Bay as your main options, and you would not be wrong. But a trip to the west coast should also include a visit to Pasatiempo, and if possible, playing it more than once. This is all a great golf course should be: great design, even better club house, fantastic maintenance, fun, wide variety, good views ... "perfect" can be too much, but its the closest to perfection we´ve ever played.

The good, The Bad

A great design from MacKenzie. A lot of variety of holes. Greens with a lot of movement and quick.
The practice area. Being an old golf course and surrounded by houses, they have no room for a properdriving range.
