Description

The course does not offer memorable views as Ailsa, Kingsbarns and Castle Stuart. On the other hand, it offers a challenging golf test from 1st to 18th hole, every shot is a challenge and every failure is paid, and is usually very expensive. Even the easiest holes as the 13th par 3 can be a nightmare if one misses on the wrong side. Maintained at the highest standards, Muirfield is the fairest course of the "Open Rota", this said by most tour players. What comes next is even better and more special: to have lunch at the Clubhouse. Not only the quality of the food but the history of the Clubhuse.

Signature Hole

Nick Faldo won the 1987 Open Championship, completing the final 18 holes with all pars, and beating Paul Azinger. There were several shots that were decisive. But the par on 18th hole, a 445 yards par 4, with the clubhouse in the background, gave him the title. That hole is a great par 4 in which missing the drive makes it impossible to put the ball on the green with the 2nd shot. And the green with its size and movement, add a little more difficulty.

Wegolf Insider Tip

Wegolf was fortunate enough to be invited to visit the place, which is a great honor. To go to Muirfield is to get access to one of those places saved only for the few. It's not just golf, it is the whole day experience. To seize it, and enjoy every shot and every  minute at the Club House. And the 18th drive with the Clubhouse as a background will remain in your memory for ever.

The good, The Bad

The course and the lunch in the clubhouse. It's something special.
It's difficult to play. You have to book 1 year in advance.
