Description
Gullane no.1 is one of 3 courses of the Gullane Golf Club, established in 1882. It is the most famous of the 3, the best and the most competitive. The Scottish Open has been played here on a couple of occasions. As in most of Scotland, the course is a typical links course but with many holes that will be remembered long after they have been played. From the short par 4 of the 1 where you can get to the green to the picturesque final hole, each hole has its own character.
Signature Hole
Hole 11 / Par 4 / 471 yards
Can be marked as their outstanding hole, not only because of the difficulty but also because it offers incredible views of the sea, Muirfield and the rest of the golf course. You have to avoid the bunkers to the left with the driver and then play straight to a very large green with a pronounced slope from right to left.
Wegolf Insider Tip
Standing on the Gullane 1 tee makes it look like you're facing an easy, defenseless course, nothing could be further from the truth. The course offers a great test of the game, since being out of the fairways is practically losing a shot every time. Of the courses we have played in Scotland, this is one of the most important to put the ball on the fairway. We were lucky enough to play it in May 2012 and before that we had lunch at the picturesque Members' Club House, a complete experience dreamed of by any golfer.
