Description

Running through mature sand dunes and pinewoods, the combination of well protected greens, undulating fairways and challenging tee shots signifies a course of magnificent contrasts. Strong par 4s abound, and the course is characterized by fast-running fairways, deep bunkers and firm greens. There is usually a breeze, to say the least, and this provides a reminder that the sea is just a few sand hills away. Accuracy from the tee is key. Straying off line will usually result in a hack out of one of the deep bunkers or a sideways knock from the trees or heather. Around the greens, a full arsenal of chips and pitches is required.

Signature Hole

The 9th hole, a 450 yards par 4, is the toughest hole on the course as it requires two good shots to hit the green. The tee shot is the key to this hole and preferably needs to be hit between the two fairway bunkers leaving you a long iron or rescue club to the green depending on the strength of the infamous prevailing wind.

Wegolf Insider Tip

A very versatile course that is always in good condition. The design is fabulous. Super recommended to play on a trip to Liverpool and combine with Royal Liverpool GC, Royal Lytham & St. Annes and Hillside.

The good, The Bad

A great links and challenging throughout from the opening tee shot. Good variation through the middle of the round. Excellent bunkering and greens. One of the tightest and toughest links courses out there.
Take plenty of balls.
