Description
Picturesque Dye Fore, Pete Dye's latest addition to Casa de Campo golf, was completed in 2005. The golf course is known for its large elevation changes, which lead to many blind shots. The numbers are staggering: 7,667 yards in length from the back tees, seven cliff-side holes dropping 300 feet to the Chavon River below, 40 miles per hour gusting winds and breathtaking 360 degree views. Fairways are very generous, and the greens are large but many have slopes, bumps and several tiers. Although visually intimidating, the course is very playable. The challenge is to be able to play shots from different lies. Flat lies are not common on Dye Fore except on the teeing grounds. It is important while you play that you look forward and backwards because the best views might be behind you instead of in front of you. When you start on # 1 the long par five, look back after your second shot and you will see the best view of Altos de Chavon, nothing like it.
Signature Hole
Marina´s holes #4 and #5 (both par 4) face the beautiful mouth of the Chavón River over the Marinas. In Chavón the par 3 #12 and #15 are excellent, playing close to 180 yds and with a lot of wind, bordering the Chavón River, playing it safe will require a second shot facing the river and a 100m height cliff.
Wegolf Insider Tip
Visually amazing and very fun to play. Don´t forget to look back while playing, sometimes the breathtaking views are behind you, like happens after your 2nd shot of the par 5 #1 hole of Chavon, where you will get the best picture of the cliffs over the Chavón river.
