Description
There is only one golf course in the world built by the three legends of our sport: Champions Retreat "the retreat of the champions" At the '99 Masters Champions Dinner, Gary Player invited Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer to build this course near Augusta National. Each one of them designed 9 holes, of the 27 that the course has, Bluff by Nicklaus, Creek by Player and Island designed by Palmer. It is an ultra-private field, inspired by Augusta National, which due to the short distance between the two has the same vegetation and a very similar topography. It is a very challenging course because of how the bunkers and hazards play and very demanding in the shots to the green.
Signature Hole
Hole 4 | Island Course | Par 4 | 453 yards. With the Savannah River on one side, hazards on the other and a huge tree in the center of the fairway, hole 4 takes all the points for the signature hole. After the green of this hole, there is the tee-off for hole 5, which is a par 3. Everyone who visits the place and due to "tradition" must shoot with their drive to see if they can cross the river and get their ball to it to North Carolina, a state attached to Atlanta.
Wegolf Insider Tip
Everything is inspired by Augusta, but it is almost as inaccessible as this one. It has some luxurious lodges and the week of the masters can be in high demand. It is one of the best, if not the best, club we have visited.
