Description

Fidra and Dirleton were a novel and pleasant visit to East Lothian, where there are no less than 20 courses, many of them links and with more than 100 years of history. Although golf has been played here for more than 100 years, these courses are very young and were born with the restoration of the Archerfield house, used as a luxurious lodge for golfers who come to play these two spectacular courses designed by David Russell.

Signature Hole

Hole 7 / Par 4 / 437 yds. (FIDRA COURSE):

The par 3's each have a touch that distinguishes it, they generally require precision and caution when thinking about how much risk to take. But the par 4 of the 7 in Fidra with its green surrounded by dense forest offers perhaps the most beautiful shot of the 36 holes.

Wegolf Insider Tip

Wegolf was there for the first time in 2012 after a Scottish Womens Open was played and the state of the course was superlative. We played in Fridra in 2017 and it is a very good test of golf.

The good, The Bad

Two course and a spectacular club hpuse, just 5 minutes away from Muirfield.
The fact that there are so many "famous" courses near it puts Archerfield unfairly on a secondary plane.
