Description
A links with great history, the best scenery, a lot to do with the 2nd World War, and perhaps the best hotel in Scotland. The golf course is extraordinary, with great creativity during gameplay. From the moment you start playing you feel you´re someqhere special, but the walk from the 4th hole to the bar in the 9th hole and Robert DeBruce's Castle is unforgettable. And a Club House with many references to the times that Ailsa hosted the Open or Amateur, worth stopping bye to study and admire every detail.
Signature Hole
The par 4 8th hole of 476 yards with Bruce's Castle in the background and the sea to the left all the way is probably the highlight of the course. Avoid the bunkers on the right where you'll be able to get out only with your sand wedge, if you manage to get out at all. Then, the 2nd shot is still complicated, on to an elevated green where any mistake can cost more than a shot.
Wegolf Insider Tip
A trip to Scotland is not complete without Turnberry, not just because of the golf, but also to experience the fabulous hotel. And if one thinks of Turnberry, the "Duel in the Sun" between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus in 1977 is one of the highest points in the Majors' history. We recommend viewing the images of that fabulous duel in the Club House before playing the course.
