Links on the shores of Lake Michigan
In the north of the United States, in the state of Wisconsin, there is a gem called Destination Kohler. The establishment has two fabulous golf courses that are unique in the country. The owner, Herb Kohler, wanted the fields to be similar in style to links in Ireland. Pete and Alice Dye were responsible for carrying out the task of creating the amazing Whistling Straits.
The other golf course complex that Destination Kohler has is Blackwolf Run, which also has two courses: The River and Medow Valleys.
Its fabulous Kohler Waters Spa, is one of 64 five-star spas worldwide.
The best feature of this destination are the views of Michigan Lake, which is one of the five great lakes in North America. With different lodging options, being The American Club the most luxurious, this is five stars resort will captivate you.
Whistling Straits - The Straits
It received its first major championship in 2004 when Vijay Singh won the PGA Championship. The Ryder Cup will be played here in 2020. An interesting fact is that the exact number of bunkers is unknown, but the estimated amount is near two thousand.
Whistling Straits – The Irish
While it is not as well known as The Straits, The Irish is another fabulous course designed by Pete Dye. Its characteristics very similar to the other course, perhaps the most notable differences are that it does not have so many holes bordering Lake Michigan, the fairways are made of bentgrass and the rough is made of bluegrass.
Blackwolf Run – The River
Golf Digest placed it number 15 in the ranking of the best 100 public courses in the United States. The U.S. The Womens Open was played here with a combination of holes between The River and Meadow Valley. There is a lot of hazard because it surrounds the Sheboygan River.
Blackwolf Run – Meadow Valleys
Another Pete Dye design, just like The River. It is ranked 57 out of the 100 best Golf Digest public courses. The final hole, which has a double green, is truly intimidating, with the water coming into play at all times.
